A tray style alternative to an RSC. The split minor flap style of tray is an economical choice for shallow wide boxes, due to the savings in the material over a conventional RSC. An RSC with an inside dimension of 16x12x4" uses 6.68 sq. feet of corrugated material. A split minor flap tray uses 5.50 sq. feet of material for a 16% savings. The split minor flap tray has double thickness end walls which increase the stacking strength over an HSC with single thickness walls. The added advantage of this tray is the solid bottom feature which does not require bottom sealing. The result is a shipping case that can be top flap sealed on conventional sealers using tape or adhesive. Below are some examples of this tray design.
